Chris has over thirty years of professional archaeological experience, spending the last eighteen in the Pacific Northwest.  He has directed over four-hundred archaeological/ historic preservation projects in Washington, Oregon and Idaho, and meets the secretary of interior guidelines for both archaeology and historic preservation.

From 1995-2002, prior to his current position, Christopher was the Tribal Archaeologist for the Yakama Nation.  There, he directed a wide range of projects, from cultural surveys to compliance work.  He has experience in all areas of cultural resources management, and has developed strong ties with Native American groups throughout the Northwest.

Chris was active in the Wana-Pa-Koot Koot cultural resources working group along the Columbia River, and has helped guide the discovery, protection and interpretation of archaeological sites within the region.

From 2006-2012 Christopher was an adjunct instructor in Anthropology at the Yakima Valley Community College.  In 2013 and 2015, he presented papers on both archaeological aspects of mining sites, and interpretational paradigms related to irrigation sites in the Columbia Basin of Washington State, and, with Reiss-Landreau research,  is an active participant in the archaeology of the Pacific Northwest.

Josh is an Archaeologist and our principal investigator. Josh graduated from The University of Idaho with a B.S. in Anthropology. He graduated from Central Washington University with a M.S. in resource management in 2019. Josh has nine years of professional experience working and supervising all phases of field work, site documentation, laboratory analysis, and project research. Josh meets the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for prehistoric and historic archaeology.

Josh directs both project fieldwork and shares report production and works principally in the analysis of results from the on-the-ground work. His coordination generally takes the form of detailed summaries and project findings viewed through the lens of property eligibility. A large percentage (70%-80%) of Reiss-Landreau Research’s projects entail working with private landowners. One of our ethical responsibilities is to communicate the goals and activities related to archaeology to members of the public. Often we are able to allay fears, and to interest landowners in preserving unique historical features on their property.
